First Visit

Plan on about an hour for your first visit to Jacksonville Integrative Health. If you have had recent imaging done, you may bring those images or the reports with you to your appointment. Also, please bring your insurance card and identification, and wear loose clothing that will allow us to work directly with your knee.

Patient Paperowrk

When you come in, we’ll have you fill out some paperwork that tells us a little about your health history. Then we’ll do a thorough consultation. We want to learn about your condition, if it’s in one or both knees, how it has progressed over time, and how it affects your life. We’ll also ask about any treatments you’ve tried in the past, and what worked, what didn’t work, and what made it worse.

Next, we’ll do a detailed, focused exam of your knees. If you have recent X-rays that include views sufficient for our purposes, we can use those. Otherwise, we will take our own digital X-rays in-house.

An important part of this visit is to determine if your situation is appropriate for the type of care we provide. We treat degenerative knee issues exclusively. It may turn out that you have a fracture, an ACL tear, or even a tumor that is the cause of your knee pain. If you are not a good candidate for our type of care, we will refer you to the appropriate type of provider for you.

Second Visit

We’ll schedule your second visit for the next day if possible. At this visit, our nurse practitioner will go over the results of your exams and X-rays with you, explain our recommendations for care, and give you all the costs and payment plan options available. We’ll verify your insurance coverage and let you know what’s covered. If you’re ready to begin, we’ll start therapy at this visit.
