Also known as Peripheral Neuropathy, it is a medical condition that refers to damage, malfunction and even death of the nerves in the body.
PERIPHERAL = That which is at or near the perimeter, meaning the nerves that are outside the brain and spinal cord, usually located close to the surface of the skin.

The most common nerves affected are the long nerve fibers that extend down the legs all the way to the tips of the toes, and down the arms to the end of the fingertips.
